The Brandermill Aikido Club (BAC) is a family owned and operated not for profit venture teaching and practicing Wadokai Aikido, Ki Development (unification of mind and body), and Karate Jutsu principles for application in our daily lives. Self defense for the mind, body and spirit are cornerstones of our practice. BAC offers a unique experience where the traditional concepts of martial arts (Budo) are modernized for application in today’s world. Our training involves physical conditioning, striking, joint locks, throws, dynamic body movement and pins. Ki development training is also an essential component of our program to enhance the effectiveness of self defense techniques as well as aspects of our daily lives.
Brandermill Aikido Club offers aikido classes in an intimate environment, small class sizes and a high level of instructor attention in a positive atmosphere. While the training is rigorous, it is easily adapted to individual students capabilities and limitations.

A primary reason people begin the study of Aikido is for self-defense. While Suenaka-Ha Aikido is an effective martial art for self-defense, it also offers a positive philosophy that includes the concept of unification of mind and body (Ki Development). Many of the things you learn on the mat will also enhance activities in your daily life. The techniques of Aikido include a focus on taking your opponents balance and controlling him by using his own energy against him. This approach provides a very powerful means of self-defense, without the requirement for great physical strength which make it ideal as a martial art for self defense, law enforcement, women and people of all physical fitness levels.

The best way to get a feel for Aikido is to see it in action. Prospective students are encouraged to come by and watch a class or two and meet our instructors. You can even join us on the mat to see if Aikido is right for you. There are no contracts and there is never any pressure to join.
